Ignatian Pedagogy:  Spiritual Seeking and Visual Thinking

*SESSIONS HELD at THE HAGGERTY MUSEUM OF ART from 4 to 5 PM (Tuesdays and Thursdays):

October 11 and 27
November 3 and 15
December 1 and 13 (Holiday celebration)



USING ART AS THE DEPARTURE, And facilitated for FACULTY by FACULTY, PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO:

  1. Utilize art in Jesuit teaching as an instrument for finding meaning in life through imagination, feelings, and reflection;
  2. Articulate ways in which art can offer an alternative way of “knowing” that strengthens students’ capacity to generate a sense of calm, reduce stress, enhance focus, cultivate self-awareness, all essential to student success;
  3. Make explicit connections between artistic experience and aesthetic contemplation;
  4. Reflect on one’s own ability to use art images and discussion in teaching and learning;
  5. Reflect deeply on one’s own identity and faith journey using art as a jumping off point.
     

 

*Certificate of completion provided with 5 of 6 sessions attended.
