Writing Wednesday: A Session for Faculty Who Assign Writing In-Person
You've assigned writing in your classes for this semester or are planning to do so next semester, but some things are keeping you up at night: How do you encourage your students to take writing seriously in your class? What helps them buy in? What kinds of support exist on campus to help our students build their confidence, recognize their shortcomings, and build their inner author self?
This session is for faculty who might be feeling nervous about writing assignments in the age of artificial technologies, wanting to refresh their writing assignments to meet the needs of our students differently, or include writing in their class for the first time.
Participants will learn research about what makes writing meaningful and effective, hear from Ott Writing Center tutors what they're experiencing on ground and how they support Marquette's learners, discuss their perspectives with others, and leave with new ideas for how to approach the essential skill of writing in their classes, in any discipline.
