How—and when—to speak with students about generative AI: strategies for dialogue and discussion

How—and when—to speak with students about generative AI: strategies for dialogue and discussion In-Person

Students are arriving in the classroom with a variety of knowledge, experiences, perceptions, questions, and concerns about generative AI, education, and work. In this workshop session we’ll explore together strategies for engaging students in conversation about the usefulness and also the risks of using generative AI for different kinds of learning, thinking, and creating. Educators of all kinds—present and future—are welcome to join us.

Maxwell Gray is the Digital Scholarship Librarian in the Department of Research, Teaching, and Learning in Raynor Library. This semester, he is a CTL Workshop Leader. In the fall, he co-led the community of practice for AI at the CTL. He also co-leads with Dr. Jacob Riyeff (English) the Human Communication Collective on campus.
