Creating your new normal in the classroom

This interactive workshop will lead faculty through a discussion of thinking creatively about their course design and teaching approaches. The goal is for faculty to leave feeling supported and empowered to make deliberate choices about future classes that serve their values and what they’ve learned about teaching in the past few years. 
 
We invite you to choose a class you love that you’d like to think through with a group, considering how goals, policies, assignments, communication, and other things that matter in your teaching might be done to set you and your students up for successful, meaningful experiences that draw on what you love about teaching. 
 
We acknowledge the challenges we’ve experienced in pandemic era classrooms and will work together from a place of hope and thoughtful innovation to move forward together. 

Workshop 2: Charting a New Course Using Your North Star (Option B)

Date: Tuesday, April 9th

Time: 4-5:30PM

Location: CTL 320A

This will be a hands-on work session for faculty who are ready to start bringing their teaching into alignment with what matters most to them as teachers. Faculty will be guided through a process of becoming curious about their approaches, policies, and assignments in a course that matters to them. The objective will be to shift into a hope-oriented mindset that will help faculty to understand how their current classes are already serving their values and what changes could make the biggest difference going forward. Participants are asked to bring materials they would like to review and review (e.g., syllabi, D2L course sites, individual assessments, rubrics) to honor in practice their teaching north star. Participants should choose to attend one of two options for this workshop.
